The Volunteer Administrators Networking Group (VANG) has previously presented conferences for Virginia's hospice volunteers.  We are delighted to carry on this tradition by presenting -  The Heart of the Journey: Meeting Everyday Challenges in Hospice Volunteering.  VANG has been intimately involved in developing the program and recruiting the best possible faculty.

The conference will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Williamsburg.

Sessions include - "Serving the Unresponsive Dying Person" with Malynda Cress, a Hospice Volunteer from North Carolina. Malynda sees herself as an interpreter for dying people who are unable to communicate their needs. This two hour training will equip the hospice volunteers with the skills and knowledge needed to be mindfully present with people who are dying, even when they are unable to communicate with their hospice volunteer.

"Becoming a Dementia Friend" will be presented by Paula Ropelewski, MS, MPS, of Leading Age Virginia. Paula will guide us through a newly developed program designed to enhance the ways in which we serve people with dementia.

"I volunteered for this? How to Serve in the Most Challenging & Dynamic Situations"  with Diane Cree Kane, MSW, LCSW. Diane has decades of experience in social work, hospice and palliative care and her passion shows through in her presentation style.

Continental breakfast will be served during registration which starts at 9.30am, the full conference begins promptly at 10 am. Refreshments, lunch and learning materials are included in the registration fee.
