VAHPC  promotes hospice and palliative care education and ethical practices, and serves as a  united voice and resource for its members.

The Veterans Summit

The day long event takes place at the Westerre Conference Center in Richmond.  Speakers include: Deborah Goral, the Palliative Care Program Manager at the Pittsburg, PA VAMC; she will be our keynote speaker.  Additional speakers include Katherine Kemp, the director of Veteran's Services, NHPCO and Rustry Trubey, Chaplain from Coatesville, PA, VAMC.  Rounding out the day will be David Ringle, who is with the Department of Veterans Services in Richmond Virginia.

Palliative Care

The Virginia Department of Health, VDH, has created a palliative care informational website which includes information on the following:

  • delivery of palliative care in the home and in primary, secondary and tertiary environments;
  • best practices for the delivery of palliative care;
  • consumer educational materials and referral information for palliative care and
  • continuing education opportunities for health care providers.
